Snowflake Cost Calculator
A Snowflake cost calculator estimates your monthly bill from warehouse size, running hours, edition and storage. Pick an edition and warehouse size, enter how long it runs and how much data you store, and see credits, compute cost and storage cost. Defaults use Snowflake's published list prices, checked 19 October 2026.

Credits per hour for first-generation standard warehouses from Snowflake documentation; list prices per credit and storage (on-demand, AWS US East, Northern Virginia) from Snowflake pricing, checked 19 October 2026. Excludes cloud services above the daily allowance, serverless features and data transfer.
How does Snowflake pricing work?
Snowflake separates compute from storage. Virtual warehouses run your queries and consume credits only while they are running. Each size up doubles both the compute power and the credits per hour, so an X-Small uses 1 credit an hour and a Large uses 8. Billing is per second, with a one-minute minimum each time a warehouse starts, and a warehouse that suspends when idle stops consuming credits.
The price of a credit depends on your edition, cloud provider and region. Standard covers core features, Enterprise adds multi-cluster warehouses and longer Time Travel, and Business Critical adds stronger security and failover for regulated data. Capacity contracts bought in advance are usually priced below on-demand.
Storage is billed monthly on the average compressed data stored, including Time Travel and Fail-safe copies. Other line items, such as cloud services above the daily allowance, serverless features and moving data out of a region, appear on some bills and are not modelled here.
How do you estimate a Snowflake bill?
Monthly compute = credits per hour × clusters × running hours × price per credit. Monthly storage = average terabytes stored × price per terabyte.
Example: a Medium warehouse (4 credits an hour) running 8 hours a day for 22 days uses 704 credits. At $3 per credit that is $2,112 of compute, and 5 TB of storage at $23 adds $115, for $2,227 a month.
What drives Snowflake costs up?
Warehouses left running between queries, sizes chosen for the heaviest job rather than the typical one, and many teams sharing one large warehouse are the usual causes. Short auto-suspend settings, right-sized warehouses and resource monitors with credit quotas fix most of them. Planning a move to Snowflake or between platforms? Frequently asked questions
How is Snowflake cost calculated?
Snowflake bills compute in credits and storage per terabyte per month. A running warehouse consumes credits per hour based on its size, from 1 credit an hour for X-Small to 512 for 6X-Large on first-generation standard warehouses, billed per second after the first minute. Monthly compute cost is credits used multiplied by your price per credit, which depends on edition, cloud and region. Storage is billed on the average compressed terabytes stored.
How much does one Snowflake credit cost?
On-demand list prices on AWS US East (Northern Virginia), checked 19 October 2026, are $2.00 per credit for Standard, $3.00 for Enterprise and $4.00 for Business Critical edition. Prices differ by cloud provider and region, and pre-purchased capacity contracts are usually discounted, so use the price on your own contract where you have one.
How can I reduce Snowflake costs?
Set short auto-suspend times so idle warehouses stop consuming credits, right-size warehouses instead of defaulting to large sizes, separate workloads so a heavy job does not keep a large warehouse running for small queries, set resource monitors with credit quotas, and review query history for expensive repeat queries. Storage costs fall when you shorten Time Travel retention on large tables that do not need it.
