Which free DPDP tools can you use today?
Two free tools help Indian businesses prepare for the DPDP Act, 2023 and DPDP Rules, 2025: a compliance checker that turns 15 questions into a list of gaps, each tied to a section or rule, and a privacy notice generator that drafts a rule 3 notice. Both run in your browser and store nothing you enter; a one-time free sign-up shows the results.
What do the free DPDP tools do?
| Tool | What it does | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| DPDP compliance checker | Fifteen yes, partly or no questions across eight areas: notice and consent, children’s data, security, breaches, retention, rights, processors and Significant Data Fiduciary duties | A list of gaps, each with the Act section and Rule behind it and the date it applies, and a readiness count such as “5 of 8 areas covered” |
| Privacy notice generator | A short form on your business, the personal data you collect, your purposes, retention, grievance contact and how people withdraw consent | A plain-language notice covering section 5 and rule 3 items, with a live preview, copy to clipboard and download as .txt |
Both tools run entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is stored or sent. A one-time free sign-up shows the results; only that sign-up form is sent.
Which DPDP tool should you start with?
| If you want to… | Start with |
|---|---|
| Find out which DPDP duties you have not covered | DPDP compliance checker |
| Replace an old privacy policy with a DPDP notice | Privacy notice generator |

Most of the DPDP Rules that these tools check, including rule 3 on notices, rule 6 on security safeguards and rule 7 on breach intimation, come into force on 13 May 2027, eighteen months after the Rules were published on 13 November 2025.
What is Perimattic building beyond the free tools?
The Perimattic DPDP Compliance Suite is planned software to run DPDP compliance day to day. The plan includes:
- A personal-data inventory: what you collect, where it lives and why.
- A notice builder for rule 3 notices in English and Eighth Schedule languages.
- Consent capture and records, with withdrawal as easy as giving consent.
- Rights requests and grievances with response-time tracking.
- A breach response workflow under rule 7, and retention and erasure schedules under rule 8.
- Verifiable parental consent under rule 10, and a processor and vendor register.
Status: The Perimattic DPDP Compliance Suite is in development; none of this is available to use yet. Sign up to follow the build.
General guidance, not legal advice. Checked against the DPDP Act, 2023 and DPDP Rules, 2025 on 22 October 2026.

The free DPDP tools, answered
Are the DPDP tools free?
Yes. The DPDP compliance checker and the privacy notice generator are free to use, with no limit on use. Filling them in needs nothing; seeing the result needs a one-time free sign-up, and only that sign-up form is sent.
Do the tools send my data anywhere?
No. Both tools run entirely in your browser. Your answers and the notice text stay on the page while it is open and are not stored on our servers or sent anywhere. The download from the notice generator is created on your own device.
Are the tools part of the Perimattic DPDP Compliance Suite?
They are separate, free tools from the team building the Perimattic DPDP Compliance Suite. The Suite itself is in development and not yet available to use. The tools give general guidance, not legal advice.
