OEE Calculator
Calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness — Availability, Performance, and Quality — and benchmark your plant against world-class standards.
OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) is the gold-standard metric for manufacturing productivity. It multiplies three factors: Availability (actual run time vs. planned time), Performance (actual throughput vs. ideal rate), and Quality (good units vs. total units). World-class OEE is 85% or higher. Most plants operate between 40–60%, meaning significant hidden capacity exists in existing equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good OEE score?+
World-class OEE is 85% or higher. An OEE of 60–85% is considered good with room for improvement. Most manufacturing plants average 40–60%. An OEE below 40% indicates significant losses in availability, performance, or quality that need immediate attention.
How is OEE calculated?+
OEE = Availability × Performance × Quality. Availability = Run Time / Planned Production Time. Performance = (Ideal Cycle Time × Total Count) / Run Time. Quality = Good Count / Total Count. Each factor is a percentage, and their product gives the overall OEE percentage.
What are the Six Big Losses that OEE measures?+
OEE captures six losses: (1) Equipment failure and (2) Setup/adjustment time reduce Availability. (3) Idling/minor stops and (4) Reduced speed lower Performance. (5) Process defects and (6) Reduced yield (startup rejects) hurt Quality. Improving any of these six areas directly raises OEE.
How often should OEE be measured?+
Best practice is to measure OEE continuously per shift, per machine. Real-time OEE monitoring (like Intellyx provides) catches losses as they happen rather than after the fact. At minimum, measure daily per production line to establish trends and identify chronic losses.
What is the difference between OEE and TEEP?+
OEE measures effectiveness against planned production time, while TEEP (Total Effective Equipment Performance) measures against all available time (24/7/365). TEEP = OEE × Utilization, where Utilization = Planned Time / Calendar Time. TEEP reveals how much total capacity exists.
