Why It Matters

Why Banking Integration Matters

Bank reconciliation is the single most time-consuming routine task in Indian accounting. Every business with a current account—and most have several across HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Kotak, and other banks—must match bank-statement entries against voucher entries in the ERP. When this is done manually, the accountant downloads a CSV or PDF statement, reformats it to match the ERP's import template, uploads it, and then clicks through each entry to confirm the match. For a business processing 500 bank transactions a month, this chore can consume two to three full workdays.

The problem compounds when businesses use multiple banks for different purposes—one for payroll, another for vendor payments, a third for collections. Each bank's statement format is different, date conventions vary, and narration fields rarely match the ERP's voucher references. The accountant becomes a human ETL pipeline, and the inevitable mismatches delay month-close.

Automated bank integration through ERPPlugs eliminates the download-reformat-upload cycle entirely. Statement data flows directly into your ERP, matched against existing vouchers using intelligent rules, and exceptions surface for human review—not the matched majority.

Problems ERPPlugs Solves

  • Each Indian bank exports statements in a different CSV/Excel format, requiring custom reformatting before the ERP can import them.
  • Narration text in bank statements rarely matches voucher references in the ERP, making automated matching impossible without fuzzy-matching logic.
  • Reconciliation for businesses with 3–5 bank accounts across different banks takes 2–3 days per month of dedicated accountant time.

How It Works

ERPPlugs connects to your bank accounts through secure statement-fetch APIs or file-based import (for banks without API access). Incoming statement entries are normalised into a common format, then matched against your ERP's payment and receipt vouchers using configurable rules—UTR number, amount, date proximity, and narration keywords. Matched entries are auto-reconciled; unmatched entries appear in an exception queue with suggested matches for one-click confirmation.
