Looking for an Odoo alternative? ERPStack vs Odoo, compared honestly
Where Odoo is the better choice today, why some teams look elsewhere, and who ERPStack is being built for.
Last updated 21 October 2026
Is ERPStack a good Odoo alternative?
Not yet for most teams, and we would rather say so. Odoo is a mature ERP you can deploy today, with a broad app catalogue and an India localisation. ERPStack is in development and not yet installable. It is being built for Indian SMEs that want GST billing, inventory and manufacturing in a simpler system.
Where ERPStack is today

Sign upHow do ERPStack and Odoo compare today?
This table compares what you can actually use. Odoo facts come from Odoo’s own editions page and documentation, checked on 21 October 2026.

| Editions | Open-source Community edition and a licensed Enterprise edition | One product, planned as self-hosted and cloud |
| Scope | A broad catalogue of business apps, from accounting and inventory to website, marketing and HR | Focused: GST billing, accounting, inventory, manufacturing, HR and POS |
| Indian GST | India localisation with e-invoicing, e-way bills and GSTR-1 modules (docs) | Designed GST-first; e-invoicing via a GSP planned, not live |
| Hosting | Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or your own server | Self-hosted or ERPStack cloud (both planned) |
| Customisation | Python modules, usually through a partner or in-house developers | Not yet defined |
| Upgrades | Major versions get three years of support; custom modules must be updated for each new version (docs) | Not yet defined |
| Pricing | Published on Odoo’s pricing page | Not published yet; cloud plans are planned to be priced by CPU time rather than users (how pricing will work) |
When is Odoo the better choice?
- You need an ERP now. Odoo is available and proven; ERPStack is not ready to run your business.
- You need breadth. If you want website, e-commerce, marketing, helpdesk and ERP from one vendor, Odoo covers far more ground.
- You operate in many countries. Odoo has fiscal localisations for many countries; ERPStack is being built for India first.
- You have a partner or developers. Teams with Odoo expertise can tailor it deeply.
Why might ERPStack suit you better later?
ERPStack is being built for a narrower group, and that is the point. It may suit you if:
- You are an Indian small or mid-sized business whose daily pain is GST billing, e-invoicing and e-way bills.
- You want billing, stock and manufacturing in one simpler system rather than a broad app catalogue.
- You want the choice of running it on your own server or in the cloud.
- You would rather shape a product early than adapt to a mature one.
None of this is available to use yet. If it describes you, sign up and tell us what you use today and what is not working. If you need an ERP this quarter, choose a system that is available now, Odoo included.
ERPStack and Odoo, answered
Why do teams look for an Odoo alternative?
Common reasons are the cost of adding users and apps as the company grows, the work of keeping custom modules compatible with each new major version, the need for a partner or Python developers for customisation, and a preference for a simpler system focused on their own country’s compliance. Whether these apply depends on your size and how much you customise.
Does Odoo support Indian GST e-invoicing?
Yes. Odoo’s India fiscal localisation documentation describes e-invoicing through the government e-invoice portal, e-way bills and GSTR-1 filing via dedicated modules, set up with API credentials and a GST Suvidha Provider. Check the current documentation and your edition for exact coverage.
Can I move from Odoo to ERPStack later?
ERPStack is not available yet, so there is no migration path to describe today. If moving from Odoo is your goal, tell us when you sign up; data import from existing systems is part of what the people who sign up are helping us prioritise.
