Microsoft Clarity ecommerce analytics tied to revenue
Brandnata connects to Microsoft Clarity through a Data Export API token that a Clarity project admin generates under Settings > Data Export, in about 5 minutes. The connection is read-only by default, and Microsoft Clarity data is reconciled with every other channel you connect in one dashboard.
Brandnata's Microsoft Clarity integration reads rage clicks, dead clicks, quick backs, scroll depth and engagement time by page, device and channel through Clarity's Data Export API. It then lines those pages up with real orders, revenue and returns for each product, so you can see which on-site friction is costing sales, something Clarity alone doesn't show.

Everything Microsoft Clarity sends into Brandnata
Once connected, Brandnata pulls the previous 24 hours of Clarity data once a day. Clarity's export API allows 10 requests per project per day and only looks back 1 to 3 days, so history builds up in Brandnata from the day you connect and earlier data can't be backfilled.
Frustration clicks
Rage click, dead click, quickback click and error click counts, by page URL, device and channel.
Scroll depth & engagement
Average scroll depth, excessive scrolling and engagement time for each page.
Sessions & traffic
Sessions, bot sessions, distinct users and pages per session by device, browser, OS and country.
Source, medium & campaign
Clarity sessions and friction signals split by channel, source, medium and campaign, matched to the same campaigns in ad and order data.
How Brandnata uses Microsoft Clarity data
Clarity shows where shoppers struggle on your pages. Brandnata matches its page URLs to products and collections in Shopify, adds sessions and funnels from Google Analytics 4 and campaign spend from Meta Ads, Google Ads and Microsoft Ads, so friction is ranked by the orders, revenue and returns at stake.

Microsoft Clarity data feeds Brandnata's anomaly alerts and AI agent suggestions. The connection itself only reads data and never changes anything in Microsoft Clarity.
What you can do with Microsoft Clarity in Brandnata
Specific, Microsoft Clarity-native use cases, not a generic list that applies to every connector the same way.
Rank product pages by rage and dead clicks next to the revenue, conversion and margin they produce, so fixes start where friction costs the most.
Compare dead and rage clicks on cart and checkout pages with completed orders in Shopify by day and device, and see whether a spike lined up with a drop in sales.
Set quick backs, scroll depth and rage clicks by campaign beside the spend and orders from that campaign, and spot ads that send visitors who leave straight away.
Find products with high return rates whose pages also show shallow scrolling or many quick backs, a possible sign that shoppers are missing sizing or product details.
Where Brandnata + Microsoft Clarity fits
Other ways teams currently piece this data together, and where each one runs out of reach.
| Approach | Coverage | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Brandnata + Microsoft Clarity · this page | Daily rage click, dead click, scroll depth and engagement data by page, device and channel, beside orders, revenue, returns and margin | N/A |
| Clarity dashboard, heatmaps and recordings (native) | Session recordings, heatmaps, frustration signals, smart events and Copilot summaries, plus purchases and checkout abandonment on Shopify sites | No margin, refund or return data, and recordings are kept for 30 days unless they're favorited |
| Clarity's Google Analytics integration | Clarity linked to one GA4 property per project, with GA data viewable alongside Clarity's own metrics | Revenue still comes from GA4 tracking rather than your store's orders, refunds and costs, and GA4 segments aren't supported in Clarity |
| Spreadsheets | Clarity figures copied into a sheet beside order and return reports | Page URLs matched to products by hand each time, with no daily history unless you save every copy yourself |
Microsoft Clarity works alongside every other connector

Microsoft Clarity integration FAQs
Microsoft Clarity details on this page were last checked against Microsoft Clarity's own documentation on .
How do I connect Microsoft Clarity to Brandnata?
A Clarity project admin opens Settings > Data Export, selects Generate new API token, gives it a name and copies the token. Paste it into Brandnata for that project, and data starts syncing once a day. Only project admins can manage tokens, and Microsoft recommends replacing a token if someone with access leaves the project.
Does Microsoft Clarity have an API?
Yes, the Clarity Data Export API, but it's limited. It returns aggregated dashboard metrics for the last 1, 2 or 3 days, broken down by up to three dimensions such as URL, device or channel. Each project gets 10 requests a day, and responses are capped at 1,000 rows with no pagination. Recordings and heatmaps aren't exported.
Is Microsoft Clarity free?
Yes. Microsoft says Clarity is free forever, with no paid tier, no traffic limits and no sampling. Some practical limits still apply: Clarity records up to 100,000 sessions per project per day, keeps recordings for 30 days unless they're favorited, and its Data Export API allows 10 requests per project per day.
What are rage clicks and dead clicks in Microsoft Clarity?
A rage click is a burst of rapid, repeated clicks on the same spot, which Clarity treats as a sign of frustration. A dead click is a click that changes nothing on the page and doesn't navigate anywhere, often caused by a broken element, a slow response or something that only looks clickable.
Does Microsoft Clarity work with Shopify?
Yes. Microsoft's Clarity: AI Insights app installs Clarity from the Shopify App Store without editing theme code. Shopify sites get a Purchases view, and Shopify Plus stores also get checkout abandonment, with checkout pages tracked through Shopify's pixel. Clarity's purchase rate can differ slightly from Shopify's, so Brandnata takes revenue from your Shopify orders.
Does Microsoft Clarity need cookie consent?
Yes, for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Since October 31, 2025, Clarity enforces consent signals for those visits and doesn't set cookies there without valid consent. Pass consent through a supported consent banner, Google Consent Mode or Clarity's Consent API v2. Without it, only cookieless data is collected and features such as recordings may be limited.
Can Brandnata change my Microsoft Clarity settings or watch recordings?
No. Clarity's Data Export API only reads aggregated dashboard figures. Brandnata can't view session recordings or heatmaps, change masking, consent or smart event settings, edit custom tags, or add or remove team members in your Clarity project.
