TallyPrime Ecom Express Integration - Auto Shipment Booking & Tracking

Ecom Express is India's second-largest integrated logistics platform after Delhivery. Most D2C brands running on Shopify or WooCommerce use Delhivery and Ecom Express as their primary and fallback 3PLs — Delhivery for metros, Ecom Express for tier 2-3 pin codes where their coverage is stronger. Both operate through similar Merchant APIs and both have Shopify plugins, but neither talks natively to TallyPrime — which means Tally never learns the AWB, delivery status is not visible against the invoice, COD reconciliation is manual through weekly remittance CSVs, and RTOs get discovered in the dashboard days after the fact.

This connector wires the Ecom Express Merchant API directly to the Tally dispatch queue. Every sales voucher in TallyPrime with a dispatch address is queued for booking with Ecom Express. The API call carries the buyer address, weight from the item master, dimensions if available, service tier (Standard / Rocket / Air), and payment mode. The AWB comes back with the label PDF and estimated delivery date and is written into the voucher narration. Manifests generate in bulk with pickup slot batching so ops teams can hand a single manifest sheet to the pickup rep instead of AWB-by-AWB.

Every consignment is tracked through the Ecom Express status webhook — pickup, in-transit, out-for-delivery, delivered, RTO — and every state change writes a new narration line onto the Tally voucher. When Ecom Express remits COD collections weekly, each remittance line is matched against the corresponding AWB and posted as a Receipt Voucher against the original Sales Invoice. Remittance fees (COD handling charges, GST on charges) are booked to a separate ledger so P&L visibility on COD net margin stays clean.

RTOs are the highest-friction event in D2C logistics. When a shipment RTOs, the connector generates an automatic credit note in Tally with stock restored to the correct godown — no manual entry, no forgotten invoices lingering in the receivables ageing report. If the RTO reverses on a re-attempt (buyer accepts on the second try), the credit note is auto-reversed and the Sales Invoice restored to active. Every reversal is logged for audit.

Multi-warehouse pickup is supported natively — each Tally godown maps to an Ecom Express pickup location. Service tier selection can be global, per warehouse, or per voucher based on rules (e.g. "Rocket for metros, Standard for everything else"). Route-based routing is a common pattern for D2C brands running both connectors: Ecom Express takes the tier 2-3 pin codes, Delhivery takes the metros, and the fallback logic runs automatically when one has capacity constraints.
