Face Recognition Attendance and Access Control

Touchless attendance and plant access for every shift

Factory attendance is still often captured with punch cards, fingerprint readers or registers, which slow down shift changes, are easy to proxy and say nothing about who is inside a restricted area.

Overview

Why Face Recognition Attendance and Access Control?

“Intellyx Face Recognition is a face recognition attendance system and access control module for factories. Cameras at plant entrances and restricted zones mark attendance by shift, allow or refuse entry by role, and feed hours worked into the Intellyx platform, with consent and retention handled under India’s DPDP Act.”

Factory attendance is still often captured with punch cards, fingerprint readers or registers, which slow down shift changes, are easy to proxy and say nothing about who is inside a restricted area. Intellyx Face Recognition is designed to handle both jobs with one enrolment: face recognition cameras at the main entrance mark attendance against the shift roster, and cameras at cleanrooms, stores and other controlled areas decide who may enter.

Capabilities

What Face Recognition Attendance and Access Control Does

Core capabilities that make the module production-ready from day one.

Touchless Shift Attendance

Workers are recognised as they walk past an entrance camera or terminal, and attendance is marked against their shift roster without cards, fingerprints or queues at shift change.

Contract and Temporary Workers

Contract labour, trainees and temporary staff can be enrolled for a fixed period, so their attendance is recorded the same way and their access ends automatically when the contract does.

Zone-Based Access Control

Access rules are set per area and role, so only trained and authorised people enter cleanrooms, chemical stores, high-voltage rooms or other restricted zones.

Live Headcount by Area

The platform is designed to show who is inside the plant and in each controlled area, which helps supervisors plan shifts and account for people during an emergency.

Attendance Exports for Payroll

Hours, overtime and late arrivals are summarised per worker and shift and can be exported to the HR or payroll system you already use.

Consent and Retention Controls

Enrolment records consent, face data is processed on site, and retention periods are configurable, to support compliance with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Deployment

How Face Recognition Attendance and Access Control Gets Deployed

How a deployment is surveyed, piloted and taken live at your site.

1

Site and Policy Survey

Entrances, shift patterns, restricted areas and your attendance and access policies are mapped, together with who must consent and how long records are kept.

2

Camera and Terminal Installation

Face recognition cameras or terminals and an on-site edge unit are installed at entrances and controlled doors, positioned for walk-through recognition at shift change.

3

Enrolment with Consent

Employees and contract workers are enrolled after being told how their data is used, and roles, shifts and zone permissions are assigned in the Intellyx platform.

4

Pilot and Go Live

The system runs alongside the existing attendance method during a pilot so recognition and attendance totals can be checked before the old method is retired.

FAQs

Common Questions About Face Recognition Attendance and Access Control

What is a face recognition attendance system?

A face recognition attendance system marks attendance by recognising a person’s face with a camera instead of a punch card, ID card or fingerprint. When an enrolled worker passes the camera, the system matches their face to their record and logs the time against their shift. In a factory, the same enrolment can also control who may enter restricted areas.

How does it handle shifts and contract workers?

Attendance is matched to each worker’s shift roster, so late arrivals, early exits and overtime are calculated per shift. Contract and temporary workers are enrolled with an end date, their hours can be reported per contractor, and their attendance and access stop automatically when the engagement ends.

Is face recognition attendance allowed under India’s DPDP Act?

Face images used to identify people are personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Employers need a lawful basis, clear notice of how the data is used, limits on use and retention, and reasonable security safeguards, and contractors and visitors should give explicit consent. Intellyx records consent at enrolment, processes face data on site and keeps retention configurable. Take legal advice on your own policy.

What happens if a worker is not recognised?

If a face cannot be matched, for example because of a mask, poor lighting or a new enrolment, the worker is not marked present automatically. A supervisor or security guard can verify the person and record attendance manually, and the event is logged so repeated failures at a camera can be fixed.

How much does a face recognition attendance system cost?

Cost depends on the number of entrances and controlled doors, the number of workers to enrol, and whether attendance needs to flow into a payroll system. Intellyx is quoted per deployment after a site survey, so contact the Perimattic team for a quote for your plant.
