Supply Chain Workflow Automation
Production alerts on WhatsApp — no new app, no dashboard watching
Why Supply Chain Workflow Automation?
Intellyx Workflow Automation is a factory communications and alert-routing module that delivers real-time production events, quality alerts, downtime notifications, and shift reports to the right person via WhatsApp — without requiring recipients to install or monitor a separate application. Alert routing, escalation paths, and report schedules are configurable by plant managers. The module connects to all other Intellyx modules (OEE, Vision QC, Predictive Maintenance, Energy) to create a unified factory alerting layer.
The biggest bottleneck in most Indian factory operations is not data collection — it is data delivery. Managers find out about machine breakdowns at shift handover. Quality issues are flagged in end-of-day reports. Energy anomalies surface in monthly billing. Intellyx Workflow Automation routes every critical production event to the right person within two minutes — on WhatsApp, the platform your supervisors and management already use. No new app to install, no dashboard to watch. Configurable escalation ensures that if a supervisor does not respond to an alert within a set window, it automatically escalates to the plant manager or COO.
What Supply Chain Workflow Automation Does
Core capabilities that make the module production-ready from day one.
WhatsApp Alert Delivery
Production events, quality alerts, downtime notifications, and maintenance warnings are delivered via WhatsApp Business API to configured recipients — supervisors, plant managers, maintenance teams, and senior management. Recipients receive alerts in the application they already use, with no new login or interface to manage.
Configurable Escalation Paths
Alert escalation rules define how long to wait for a response before escalating to the next level. For example, a downtime alert sent to the shift supervisor that is not acknowledged within 10 minutes automatically escalates to the plant manager, and then to the plant head after a further delay. Escalation paths are fully configurable by event type and severity.
Automated Report Scheduling
Shift reports, daily production summaries, weekly OEE reports, and quality trend reports are generated automatically and distributed to configured recipients via WhatsApp and email on a set schedule — eliminating the manual reporting cycle that consumes production staff time every shift.
Role-Based Alert Routing
Different alert types are routed to different recipients based on role. Machine breakdown alerts go to the maintenance supervisor, quality rejects above threshold go to the quality manager, production target variance alerts go to the shift supervisor, and summary reports go to the plant manager and senior management — all configured separately.
Alert Acknowledgement Tracking
Every alert has an acknowledgement status — sent, delivered, read, actioned. This creates an accountability trail for every production event and ensures that critical alerts cannot fall through the cracks because a recipient was unavailable. Unacknowledged critical alerts continue to escalate until resolved.
Cross-Module Integration
Workflow Automation is the delivery layer for all other Intellyx modules. OEE variance alerts, Vision QC defect rate alerts, Predictive Maintenance health warnings, and Energy idle-state alerts all route through the same configurable alerting and escalation engine — providing a single, unified production communications layer.
How Supply Chain Workflow Automation Gets Deployed
A structured deployment process that minimises disruption and delivers results within the first 90 days.
Recipient and Role Configuration
The plant manager or Perimattic deployment team configures the recipient list — names, WhatsApp numbers, and roles — and the alert routing rules for each event type. This is done through the Intellyx admin interface and can be updated at any time without technical support.
Alert Rule and Threshold Setup
Alert rules are configured for each module — for example, "send downtime alert when any machine has been stopped for more than 5 minutes", "send quality alert when defect rate exceeds 2% in any 30-minute window", "send daily OEE report at 07:00 every morning". Rules are built using a simple configuration interface.
WhatsApp Business API Integration
Intellyx connects to the WhatsApp Business API using Perimattic's certified integration. Recipients do not need to do anything — alerts will arrive from the Intellyx WhatsApp number in their existing WhatsApp application. No app download, no registration, and no separate login is required.
Go Live and Escalation Testing
Alert routing goes live alongside the other Intellyx modules. Perimattic conducts a test alert round to confirm delivery to all configured recipients and verify escalation paths are working correctly before handover.
Supply Chain Workflow Automation Across Industries
How manufacturers in different sectors put this module to work.
Stamping line stoppages trigger an immediate WhatsApp alert to the shift supervisor and maintenance lead, with escalation to the plant head if not acknowledged within 10 minutes. The plant head can confirm the situation and expected resolution time without being physically present on the floor.
Multi-plant groups use Workflow Automation to deliver daily consolidated production and OEE reports to the COO and plant heads via WhatsApp — eliminating the 3-hour weekly reporting cycle and ensuring the leadership team always has current production data.
Batch deviation alerts and production line stoppages are routed to the QA manager and production manager simultaneously via WhatsApp with full event details. The audit trail of alert delivery and acknowledgement satisfies GMP requirement for deviation notification documentation.
Cold chain temperature excursions trigger immediate WhatsApp alerts to the quality manager and warehouse supervisor, with escalation to the plant head if unacknowledged. This reduces the window of temperature deviation that can compromise product safety.
Common Questions About Supply Chain Workflow Automation
Why does Intellyx use WhatsApp instead of a dedicated mobile app?
WhatsApp has near-universal adoption among factory supervisors, plant managers, and senior management in India — adoption rates of 90%+ in manufacturing are common. Using WhatsApp means alerts reach recipients in an application they check continuously without requiring anyone to download, learn, or remember to check a new application. Factory managers who have tried dedicated apps report that adoption drops sharply after the initial deployment period because supervisors revert to familiar communication channels. WhatsApp-based delivery solves this adoption problem permanently. The Intellyx dashboard remains available for deeper analysis and historical data, but time-critical alerts are delivered where they will actually be seen and acted on.
Can we configure who receives which alerts?
Yes. Alert routing in Intellyx is fully configurable at the event type and severity level. The plant manager or administrator can configure separate recipient lists for machine downtime alerts, quality alerts, maintenance alerts, energy alerts, and each type of automated report. Recipients can be added, removed, or changed at any time without requiring Perimattic support. The escalation path — who gets notified if the primary recipient does not acknowledge — is also configurable per alert type. For example, a minor quality alert might escalate to the quality manager after 15 minutes, while a critical machine breakdown escalates to the plant head after 5 minutes.
What happens if WhatsApp is not available or someone changes their number?
Intellyx supports email as a secondary delivery channel for all alerts and reports. In the event WhatsApp delivery fails, the system automatically retries and falls back to email delivery. Recipients who change their phone number or WhatsApp account can be updated in the Intellyx admin interface by the plant administrator. For critical alert types, the system can be configured to send alerts to multiple recipients simultaneously rather than just the primary contact, reducing the risk of any single point of failure in the alert chain.
Does Workflow Automation work as a standalone module or only with other Intellyx modules?
Workflow Automation is most valuable as the delivery layer for other Intellyx modules — routing alerts from OEE Monitoring, Vision QC, Predictive Maintenance, and Energy Monitoring to the right people. However, the alert engine can also receive inputs from external systems via API, allowing it to deliver alerts from non-Intellyx data sources such as ERP order alerts, inventory thresholds, or third-party sensor platforms. As a standalone module, it is less useful because it depends on event inputs from monitoring systems to generate alerts. Most Intellyx deployments include OEE Monitoring and Workflow Automation as the core pair, with other modules added based on the factory's priorities.
