Brandnata + PayPalPayments & checkout

PayPal fees and transactions reconciled to your orders

Brandnata connects to PayPal through PayPal's own sign-in and consent screen, where you log in to your business account and approve access to your transaction history, in about 5 minutes. The connection is read-only by default, and PayPal data is reconciled with every other channel you connect in one dashboard.

Brandnata's PayPal integration pulls in your PayPal payments, refunds and disputes, with the fee PayPal charged on each transaction. Those costs are applied to the orders they came from, so checkout fees, refunds and chargebacks count in your margin alongside card payments and marketplace fees.

What you can connect

Everything PayPal sends into Brandnata

Once connected, payments, refunds and disputes sync throughout the day, as PayPal makes transactions available for reporting.

Brandnata

Payments

Every PayPal payment received, with amount, currency, buyer country and the invoice or order ID your checkout sent.

Transaction fees

The fee PayPal charged on each payment, including the extra charge on international transactions and any currency conversion.

Refunds

Full and partial refunds by order, including the original fee PayPal keeps when a payment is refunded.

Disputes & chargebacks

Buyer disputes and card chargebacks with their status and outcome, linked to the order they relate to.

How Brandnata uses it

Not just synced, reconciled

PayPal transactions are applied to the orders they paid for. The PayPal fee, any refund and any dispute charge come off that order's margin, so PayPal orders and card orders are measured on equal terms.

A team reviewing reconciled sales and performance data together

PayPal data feeds Brandnata's anomaly alerts and AI agent suggestions. The connection itself only reads data and never changes anything in PayPal.

Key capabilities

What this integration unlocks

Specific, PayPal-native use cases, not a generic list that applies to every connector the same way.

PayPal costs in your margin

Count PayPal's fee against each order paid with PayPal, so margins reflect what each payment method costs to accept.

PayPal vs. card payments

Compare the fees, refund rates and dispute rates of PayPal orders with orders paid through Stripe or Shopify Payments.

Refunds that cost you twice

PayPal keeps its fee on refunded payments. Brandnata counts it, so products with frequent refunds show their full cost.

Disputes by product and market

See where PayPal disputes and chargebacks come from, by product, country and channel, and how many end in your favour.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I connect PayPal to Brandnata?

Choose PayPal in Brandnata and you're taken to PayPal's sign-in page. Log in to your PayPal business account and approve the read access Brandnata asks for. You never share your PayPal password with Brandnata, and you can remove its access from your PayPal account settings at any time.

How much does PayPal charge merchants?

For PayPal Checkout payments in the US, PayPal's standard rate is 3.49% plus a fixed $0.49 per transaction. International payments carry an additional 1.5%, and currency conversion is charged separately. Rates vary by country and payment type, so Brandnata uses the fee recorded on each transaction rather than a fixed rate.

Does PayPal refund its fees when I refund a customer?

No. When you refund a PayPal payment, PayPal returns the money to the buyer but keeps the fee you paid to receive it. Brandnata counts that retained fee against the refunded order.

Why don't my PayPal deposits match my sales?

Your PayPal balance is your sales minus fees, refunds, disputes and any amount on hold, and money reaches your bank only when it's transferred out. Refunds and dispute charges can land weeks after the original sale. Brandnata ties each fee, refund and dispute back to its order, so the gap can be explained.

Can I compare PayPal with card payments?

Yes. Connect PayPal and Stripe and Brandnata shows fees, refund rates and dispute rates for each payment method side by side.

Can Brandnata send money or issue refunds through PayPal?

No. The connection only reads transactions, refunds and disputes. Brandnata can't send payments, issue refunds or respond to disputes on your behalf.

Which stores does the PayPal integration work with?

It works with PayPal payments from any store that passes an order or invoice ID to PayPal at checkout, including Shopify and WooCommerce. That reference is what lets Brandnata attach each PayPal transaction to the right order.
