ShipStation label costs charged to the orders they shipped
Brandnata connects to ShipStation through a ShipStation API key that you generate in your API Settings and paste into Brandnata, in about 5 minutes. The connection is read-only by default, and ShipStation data is reconciled with every other channel you connect in one dashboard.
Brandnata's ShipStation integration reads shipments, label costs, insurance, carriers, services and tracking status for the orders you ship. Postage is attached to the order it was bought for, so profit by product and channel includes what it cost to deliver, and you can compare carriers on price and speed with your own data.

Everything ShipStation sends into Brandnata
Once connected, new shipments and label purchases sync throughout the day, and tracking status updates as carriers report scans.
Shipments & labels
Labels created in ShipStation with the order number, ship date, package weight and dimensions.
Postage & insurance
The label cost and any insurance charge recorded on a shipment, plus voided labels so refunded postage isn't counted.
Carriers & services
Which carrier and service shipped an order, whether through ShipStation's discounted rates or your own carrier accounts.
Tracking & delivery
Tracking numbers and delivery status, used to measure time from order to shipment and from shipment to doorstep.
How Brandnata uses ShipStation data
ShipStation supplies the fulfillment side of your orders. Postage, insurance and carrier choice are attached to the orders from Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce or other channels that ShipStation imported, so contribution margin includes delivery cost and shipping performance sits next to sales and returns.

ShipStation data feeds Brandnata's anomaly alerts and AI agent suggestions. The connection itself only reads data and never changes anything in ShipStation.
What you can do with ShipStation in Brandnata
Specific, ShipStation-native use cases, not a generic list that applies to every connector the same way.
Label and insurance costs are charged to the order they shipped, so a product that looks profitable on price alone is judged after delivery costs.
Compare what customers paid for shipping with what labels cost you, by order value and region, to set free shipping thresholds on evidence.
See average cost and delivery time by carrier and service for similar packages, and spot where a cheaper option arrives just as fast.
Track voided labels so cancelled postage drops out of your costs, and flag orders that needed a second shipment.
Where Brandnata + ShipStation fits
Other ways teams currently piece this data together, and where each one runs out of reach.
| Approach | Coverage | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Brandnata + ShipStation · this page | Label and insurance costs applied per order, carriers compared on cost and speed, and shipping shown inside profit by product and channel | N/A |
| ShipStation reports (native) | Shipment volume, postage spend, carrier usage and order fulfillment reports | Shipping data on its own, without product margins, ad spend, refunds or what the customer paid for delivery |
| Store reports (Shopify, WooCommerce) | Orders, sales and the shipping charged to customers | Labels bought in ShipStation don't flow back as a cost, so store profit figures leave out postage |
| Carrier invoices in spreadsheets | ShipStation shipment exports and carrier bills compared against order exports | Slow to rebuild each month, and voided labels or later carrier adjustments are easy to double count or miss |

ShipStation integration FAQs
How do I connect ShipStation to Brandnata?
In ShipStation, open API Settings and generate an API key. Copy it straight away, since ShipStation only shows it once, then paste it into the ShipStation connection in Brandnata. Shipments and labels start syncing, and you can revoke access at any time by deleting the key in ShipStation.
Does my ShipStation plan include API access?
API access depends on your ShipStation plan, and ShipStation has changed which plans include it. Your API Settings page shows whether your account can generate a key. If it can't, ShipStation's support team can tell you which plan you need.
How do I calculate shipping cost per order in ShipStation?
ShipStation records the cost of a label on its shipment. To get a cost per order, add the label and insurance costs for all shipments tied to the order, subtract any voided labels and include carrier adjustments billed later. Brandnata adds this up automatically and places it in the order's profit.
Why doesn't ShipStation's postage spend match my carrier bill?
When you use your own carrier accounts, the carrier can bill extra later, for example when a package is re-weighed or a delivery surcharge applies, and that adjustment appears on the carrier's invoice rather than on the original label. Voided labels can also take time to be refunded. Brandnata uses the label cost ShipStation recorded and keeps voids separate, so you know which shipments to check against the invoice.
Which sales channels does this cover?
Any channel whose orders ShipStation imports, including Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy and WooCommerce. Brandnata links the shipment to the original order from that channel, so shipping cost shows up in channel and product profit.
Is ShipStation or Shiprocket better for my business?
ShipStation is built mainly for the US, Canada, UK, Australia and Europe, while Shiprocket focuses on India with features such as cash on delivery and RTO handling. Brandnata connects to both, so brands shipping in several regions can see all delivery costs together.
Can Brandnata buy labels or change orders in ShipStation?
No. An API key gives broad access to your account, but Brandnata only reads shipments, labels, carriers and tracking. It doesn't create labels, edit orders or change your automation rules.
