Squarespace store profit after fees, refunds and ad spend

Brandnata connects to Squarespace through a Squarespace Developer API key that you generate in your site settings with Read Only access to orders, transactions, products and inventory, in about 5 minutes. The connection is read-only by default, and Squarespace data is reconciled with every other channel you connect in one dashboard.

Brandnata's Squarespace integration reads orders, transactions, refunds, products and inventory from your Squarespace store. Sales are combined with Squarespace transaction fees, payment processing fees, shipping and ad spend from your other connections, so you see profit by product and campaign, which Squarespace Analytics doesn't report.

How Brandnata uses it

How Brandnata uses Squarespace data

Squarespace supplies the storefront side of your business: what sold, at what price and with which discount. Brandnata adds the costs Squarespace reports separately or not at all, such as processing fees, shipping and ad spend from Google Ads or Meta Ads, and assigns them to the orders they belong to.

A team reviewing reconciled sales and performance data together

Squarespace data feeds Brandnata's anomaly alerts and AI agent suggestions. The connection itself only reads data and never changes anything in Squarespace.

Key capabilities

What you can do with Squarespace in Brandnata

Specific, Squarespace-native use cases, not a generic list that applies to every connector the same way.

Profit, not just sales

Squarespace Analytics reports revenue, units and conversion. Brandnata subtracts fees, refunds, shipping and ad spend to show what each order and product earned.

The cost of your plan's fees

See how much Squarespace transaction fees and card processing take from sales each month, which makes it easier to judge whether a plan upgrade pays for itself.

Ad spend tied to Squarespace orders

Put Google Ads, Meta Ads and Pinterest Ads spend against the orders they drove, and judge campaigns on profit.

One view with your other channels

Brands that also sell on Etsy, Amazon or a second store see profit across all of them with the same cost rules.

FAQ

Squarespace integration FAQs

How do I connect Squarespace to Brandnata?

In your Squarespace site settings, open Developer API Keys and generate a key for Brandnata. Set Orders, Transactions, Products and Inventory to Read Only, copy the key (Squarespace shows it only once) and paste it into Brandnata. Deleting the key in Squarespace ends access.

Does Squarespace show profit?

Not on its own. Squarespace Analytics reports sales, orders, units and conversion, but it doesn't subtract product costs, payment processing fees, shipping or advertising. Brandnata adds those from your connected accounts to calculate profit per order and product.

What does Squarespace charge per sale?

It depends on your plan. On physical products, the Basic plan adds a 2% transaction fee, while Core, Plus and Advanced charge none. With Squarespace Payments, US card rates are 2.9% plus $0.30 on Basic and Core, 2.7% plus $0.30 on Plus and 2.5% plus $0.30 on Advanced, with extra charges for international cards. Brandnata uses the fees recorded on your own transactions.

Are Stripe or PayPal fees separate from Squarespace's fee?

Yes. A Squarespace transaction fee, where your plan has one, is charged on top of whatever your payment processor takes. If you accept payments through Stripe or PayPal, connect them too so Brandnata can include their fees.

Is the Squarespace connection read-only?

Yes. Squarespace lets you set each API on a key to Read Only or Read and Write, and Brandnata only needs Read Only. It can't change orders, products, prices or inventory.

Do Squarespace API keys expire?

No. A Squarespace API key stays valid while the site is active, until you delete it. Each key works for one site, so a brand with several Squarespace stores creates a key on each.

Can I see profit by product on Squarespace?

Yes, in Brandnata. Add a unit cost for each product and Brandnata calculates profit by product and variant after fees, refunds, shipping and the ad spend assigned to its orders.
